Turbo Jet Range

Available as an 8 outlet (Turbo Jet 8) or 10 outlet (Turbo Jet 10) applicator, the Turbo Jet can deliver product up to 15m working width. It can also be set up with some outlets either blanked-off or doubled as necessary depending on application and working width requirement.

Three different control systems can be specified; JACKAL, i-CON or ISOBUS, to suit operational requirements for precision. Machines come with a 240 Litre hopper or a 400 Litre hopper.

The Turbo Jet is a versatile and accurate pneumatic applicator and seeder. It can be fitted to a wide variety of machines to deliver product up to 15m working width from grass harrows to cultivators and rolls as well as being employed as an additional applicator on a grain drill.
When used for small seeds or granules the Turbo Jet can be calibrated to apply precise rates across a wide range of products from 1kg/ha to more than 100kg/ha (dependent on product, working width and forward speed). Commonly used for applying clover seed, full-rate grass reseeds, Avadex and cover crops.

Two or even three Turbo Jet applicators can be used independently or simultaneously, eg. to apply OSR, slug pellets and fertiliser at the same time, subject to controller.
Combining the functionality of other machines with a Turbo Jet creates a one pass machine, thereby reducing workload and thus saving time and money.

JACKAL CONTROL

The JACKAL is a simple compact controller which enables monitoring and adjustment of all key functions. Screen shows application rate, forward speed, hopper level and fan voltage. As standard the forward speed input is taken from the tractor 7 pin implement socket.

The JACKAL can be fitted with a GPS speed input and in/out of work cut-off switch if required. Uses tractor 7 pin plug for forward speed signal and on/off linkage function.

  • Simple accurate calibration for precise rate control.
  • Forward speed adjusted rate control as standard speed input via tractors 7 pin implement socket.
  • In cab application rate display, forward speed, area worked and hopper level sensor (if fitted).
  • On the move rate adjustment, plus two “quick rate” functions keys for pre-set application rates (adjustable).
  • High and Low alarm functions for metering roller.
  • Large LCD screen, easily read characters contained in a robust housing.
  • GPS forward speed sensor optional.
i-CON CONTROL

Rates are automatically controlled in proportion to forward speed for ultimate accuracy, and the machine can apply variable rates according to mapping data using a GPS based touch screen*.

  • 100mm (4”) outlet
  • Separately mounted connected by a length of flexible hose

WORKING WIDTH

Working width is largely determined by the type of fan and control system selected. Standard JACKAL controlled models have a maximum working width of 8m*. The Turbo Jet 10 i-CON machines are fitted with a powerful digital IP68 rated (water and dust resistant) brushless 12v fan and can spread up to 10m* working width.

When fitted with hydraulic fan the Turbo Jet 10 is capable of spreading up to 15m* Whichever model is chosen the high-capacity fans ensure a reliable spread and the versatile feed mechanism easily adapts for different rates and products.
*Dependent on product.

SEED HOSE

The internal diameter of the seed hose is 32mm, considerably greater than most alternatives. A wider diameter hose reduces back pressure and improves air flow, enabling higher application rates at higher forward speeds. A wider diameter hose also reduces the risk of blockages.

Applicator seed hose

Y CONNECTORS

Each delivery hose can be split into two using Y connectors that are positioned
near to the spreader plates so, 8 outlets becomes 16 and 10 outlets becomes 20. The number of outlets required will depend on the product being applied, the implement width and type and the decision to broadcast or band sow.

OUTLET SPREADER PLATES
  • Robust design prevents spreader plate distortion.
  • Provides a consistent even spread pattern.
  • Secure attachment to mounting rail and seed hose.
  • Adjustable bottom plates allow both band sowing and broadcast sowing.
  • 75cm spread achievable from a height of as low as 25cm (depending on product being applied)

METERING MECHANISM

Fluted feed rollers on a stainless steel shaft are driven by a 12 volt electric motor. All Turbo Jets are offered with a veriety of feed blocks.

Feed blocks are easily removed from the machine body. A variety of feed roller segments can be supplied, allowing multiple configurations, to suit a wide range of applications. They are easily changed as required.

Calibration

An external calibration button is fitted as standard to enable the operator to start the calibration at the side of the machine.

A simple ‘catch and weigh’ calibration test establishes application rate. A calibration tray is supplied.

SMALL SEED FEED BLOCK

Individual feed rollers for each outlet ensure accuracy down to very low rates.

Typically used for OSR, clover, mustard, turnips and slug pellets.

LARGE SEED FEED BLOCK

50mmØ large feed rollers are supplied to meter high
rates of both large and small seeds.

Typically used for grass and cover crops at e.g. 40 kgs/ha at 6m wide at 12kph.

A 59mmØ high capacity feed block is also available for the Turbo Jet 10. Typically used for wide machines, high rates and high forward speed applications.

GRANULAR FEED BLOCK

Typically used for granular products e.g. Avadex.

STAINLESS STEEL FEED BLOCK

Used to apply abrasive micro granules and fertiliser.

PRECISE AND ACCURATE AVADEX APPLICATION

Managing and controlling grassweeds such as blackgrass continues to be a challenge for many farmers.

Although other control methods such as widening rotations, low-disturbance tillage, delayed Autumn drilling or ploughing every set number of years are common additional methods of control, applying blackgrass herbicides such as Avadex continues to be a strong weapon in the armoury.

Due to the Turbo Jet’s precision metring ability and the consistent, even spread pattern achieved from the spreader plates, this makes it an applicator of choice for applying Avadex, used by farmers and OE manufacturers. When working over 6m, the Turbo Jet 10 has a coefficient of variation (CV) of less than 5% (NSTS test carried out by SCS).

A key factor to consider when applying Avadex, is to have the applicator mounted correctly, which will allow for the best chance to combat blackgrass effectively.
